Frequently asked questions
What is counselling?
Counselling offers you a safe, confidential place to talk about your life and anything that may be confusing, painful or unconfortable. It allows you to talk with someone who is trained to listen attentively and to help you to improve things.
How will counselling help me & how many sessions will I need?
Counselling is about helping you to develop insights into your problems and finding your own resources and strenghts. It is about helping you to make your own choices and decisions and take responsibility for your own life. Person Centred counselling is not about judging you or giving you advice.
Your counsellor will discuss with you the number of sessions that you may need.
What is meant by confidentiality?
All counsellors at BCS adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. There are some legal limits and restrictions to the work we are able to do. These will be explained at your initial session.
